GROUPON: SHOPPABLE PARADE
Opportunity
Groupon, after failing to find a viable business model in it’s “group buy” approach, asked us to help it
reposition itself as the world’s largest store for “experiences.”
Insight
Shopping an online “experience” store should be an experience too.
Idea
With literally thousands of “experiences” sold on Groupon in most cities, we proposed the world’s first stoppable parade. Instead of floats and marching bands, we’d showcase marching hair stylists, elephant rides, sky divers, horse and buggy rides, tattoo artists, and the other thousands of services offered locally on Groupon. Attendees (as well as viewers at home) would use their cell phone to photograph the “experiences” they want to purchase as they pass by. Our system would link their photograph to the product page and allow for purchase.
Users would open our app, use their camera function and photograph the “experiences” passing by which would launch the product purchase page on Groupon.
